Our School Day
Our carefully structured school day provides the consistency, support and variety every pupil needs to feel secure, engage in learning and make meaningful progress.
A Typical School Day
At Cherry Tree School, our school day is carefully structured to provide pupils with a balance of academic challenge, therapeutic support and opportunities for personal development. Learning is delivered in small, manageable chunks to maximise engagement and success, whilst recognising that many of our pupils benefit from regular opportunities for movement, regulation and reflection throughout the day.
The day begins with a calm welcome and registration period, followed by dedicated time for our Theme of the Week, helping pupils develop their personal, social and emotional understanding. Throughout the day, pupils access a range of lessons alongside reading, intervention and enrichment opportunities. Structured break and lunch times are carefully planned to support positive social interaction, emotional regulation and wellbeing.
Whilst our approach is more flexible and personalised than a traditional mainstream setting, we maintain high expectations for attendance, behaviour, effort and achievement. Staff work closely with pupils to develop resilience, independence, confidence and self-regulation skills, whilst ensuring that learning remains accessible and meaningful. Through a combination of academic learning, targeted support and real-life experiences, we aim to prepare pupils not only for success in education, but also for happy, healthy and fulfilling lives beyond school.
